Burn & Rise

October 16, 2022

As I collect the fractured fragments of my soul
And piece them together into a coherent whole
I am showered with blessings and abundance from above,
I thank you deeply, for filling me with love

My rage stokes the fire
The fire within me
If I raise my gaze
You sense the intensity
I lower it
Not for your comfort -
But for myself,
to tend to the flames
and stoke them all night

For I won’t waste an ember on darkness,
I won’t bleed for the ones asleep.
I fan the flames of my desires,
I whisper words that make them unfurl

I breathe heavily
Engulfed by silently thickening smoke
I breathe fire into the light
I lift my head and raise my arms
Like a Phoenix from the ashes
I roar like a lioness
Thundering from within

You thought you could silence me
You thought I could be tamed
The violently unfolding fire
You mistook for a meagre flame

I rise in the midst of the darkness
While the moon watches over creatures of the night
As the branches and leaves rustle and cackle
And the waves crash against the rocky shore

I face my demons head on
Look them in the eye and fall at their feet
I see them as no separate from myself
They bow down to me, clearing the way.

Enlivened and strengthened from within
My wholeness is my power, I feel it in my core
It is the sharpened sword
Armed with which, I go to war

Oh great Father, may you bless me
My beloved Mother, may you protect me
My dear plant spirits, may you guide me
My loving companions, may you embrace me
My true self, may you reside within me

For I go forth, not for one, but for all
Together we rise, together we won’t fall
United in compassion, graced by love
Moored by the Gods, and the heavens above
For we heard the call, and we followed the song
I now know my mission, I know why I was born

I gaze into the abyss, knowing not what lies ahead
I see the two wolves, I know which one is fed
I accept the duality, I recognise it within me
With this divine knowledge
I am whole, I am free

Justice, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity

They colonised nations, they colonised peace
They colonised land, they colonised deep seas
They colonised people, they colonised the trees
They colonised information, they colonised free speech

The time has come.
We heard the bells ring -
The sounding of the alarm,
The changing of the guard
Our people are gathering near and far.

Show me the way

At ease, comrades!
Remember to stop, to look within,
to count your blessings
And remember your Godliness
Amidst the battlefield and gunfire
Stay grounded, stay rooted
Be still
